Why you should vote for me:

I believe that I have the requisite skills, experience and competence to be an effective contributor to the Conexus board and offer a strong voice on behalf of its members.

I am interested in serving as a director of Conexus because as a long-time member, I continue to be impressed by its success and growth as a financial institution and its strong role in the community. I believe that my financial background combined with my interest in seeing strong and vibrant Saskatchewan communities is aligned with Conexus’ values and that I would make a positive addition to the current board of directors.

Key strategic opportunities for Conexus Credit Union in the next two to five years:

I think that one of the key strategic opportunities for Conexus is technology related. Financial innovation continues to advance and fintech companies have been a disruptor in the financial world over the past few years. This has encompassed everything from traditional lending and mortgages to wealth management. The world will continue to become more technologically sophisticated and the opportunities for Conexus reside in how to best use technology to enhance its traditional banking and wealth management services.

Key risks for Conexus Credit Union in the next two to five years:

I think the major risks facing Conexus are comprised of economic risk, interest rate risk and cyber risk. Given that Conexus’ operations are largely Saskatchewan-focused, the growth and risk prospects of the membership are affected by the state of the provincial economy. In addition, with the Bank of Canada indicating that it plans to move forward in raising its lending rate, the cost of borrowing for businesses and individuals is likely to rise, and if corporate revenues and individual wages can’t keep pace, the risk of delinquent payments and bankruptcies may rise. Finally, as cyber criminals become more sophisticated, financial institutions, such as Conexus, will need to ensure that they have adequate measures in place to mitigate such events from happening.
