Joel Mowchenko, Chair

In his current role as a leadership coach and consultant, Joel draws on his background in small business and governance. Joel strives to help leaders, teams, and organizations to explore paths that are healthy, sustainable, and always rooted in personal well-being. He brings this same focus to his role as Board Chair of Conexus, working to ensure that the leadership of Conexus remains committed to our roots – the financial well-being of our members and communities.

  • Chartered Director (C.Dir) through McMaster University and the Conference Board of Canada, Certified Credit Union Director (CCD) through CUES and the Rotman School of Management, Certified Leadership Coach through Destination Leadership and the Edwards School of Business;
  • Over 15 years of experience as an agricultural entrepreneur in the organic, grass-fed beef, and farm to table sectors.

Kathryn Pollack, Vice Chair

Kathryn is the Chief Procurement Officer with the Government of Saskatchewan's Ministry of SaskBuilds and Procurement. She lives in the R.M. of Lumsden with her husband and two children. Kathryn has a broad range of professional experience across multiple sectors and is passionate about developing teams and helping people leverage their unique strengths.

Annette Bester

Annette is a Partner at MNP - National Leader Credit Union Services and is passionate about the important role Conexus can play as an industry leader. Annette has spent over 20 years providing service to credit unions throughout Canada, which gives her unique insight to the opportunities and challenges within the current environment.

  • Bachelor of Commerce, University of Saskatchewan;
  • Board member of the Saskatchewan Capital Network; and

Mark Borgares

Mark is a believer in co-operative values and embraces them personally. Through much of his career, he held executive positions within the co-operative and technology sectors.

  • Currently the CFO and VP Corporate Services with eHealth Saskatchewan.
  • Has served on various boards and committees, and most recently served on the University of Regina - Senate, SGI Canada and the Chartered Professional Accountants.
  • Has completed many various education and professional designations including Artificial Intelligence Program, Institute of Corporate Directors certification and  Executive Development Program.

Leah Clement

Term expires: 2021

Leah is a Registered Nurse and lifelong learner with a passion for serving clients, patients and families and growing leaders. She has had a 30+ yr career in healthcare, recently retired from a senior leadership role with the Saskatchewan Health Authority & Regina Community Clinic.

Leah participates on the Discipline Committee of the Saskatchewan Registered Nurses Association and has held committee memberships previously on the Awards Committee. She also held a Board role on the Saskatchewan Association of Combined Lab & Xray Technologist early in her healthcare career.

Karin Ferris

Karin is an active and passionate member of her community. She is experienced in financial wellness, human resources and community involvement and will strive to make a solid contribution to the strategy of the Conexus Credit Union Board. She is very proud to be from Saskatchewan and from Prince Albert. She further appreciates Conexus’ commitment to having a local credit union that works hard to provide important services to Saskatchewan communities.

  • Karin holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from the University of Saskatchewan and Certificate in Insolvency Counselling.
  • Various Board and Community Involvements include Mont St. Joseph Foundation, South Hill Tiny Tot Daycare, Victoria Hospital, Ronald McDonald Room, YMCA Stroke Swim and Special Olympics, swim teach coach.

Karla Hardcastle

Karla Hardcastle is a co-operator at heart and believes in the co-operative values and putting the needs of members first.

  • Master of Arts and Bachelor of Arts from the University of Saskatchewan studying the history and development of co-operatives.
  • Extensive experience with co-operatives professionally and as a volunteer.
  • Former deputy mayor, Village of Air Ronge.

Adam Hicks

Adam is an active volunteer in Regina and is passionate about improving the lives of all citizens. He has experience in the financial, accounting and business fields. Adam is Director of Finance with the Provincial Government in the Ministry of Justice and Attorney General.

  • Elected Trustee and Vice-Chair of the Regina Public School Board
  • Serves on several Community Boards and Associations.

Sandra Kitts

Sandra is dedicated to improving well-being for individuals and organizations. Her commitment to serve on the Conexus Board of Directors adds great value to several board functions.

  • Completed a Bachelor of Education at the University of Regina, as well as a Master of Education and Doctorate Degree from the University of Oregon. 
  • For over three decades Sandra worked for a Saskatchewan School Division as a teacher, principal, and Superintendent of Learning. She has also worked with the Board of Education.
  • Experience in both rural and urban settings and enjoys taking part in community events, especially those that involve youth, sports, and the arts.

Ken Kosolofski

Ken is a retired credit union system executive after serving close to 17 years within the system. The last seven plus years he was the President and CEO of Concentra Bank (a credit union owned, federally regulated bank).

Kara Marchand

Kara would like to give back to her community and help younger and future generations understand the co-operative system and the benefits it can provide to its members.

  • Worked in a retail co-operative system in high school and grew up in a rural community, banking with a credit union.
  • Financial and business background, has a CPA and CMA.
