Conexus is owned by you – our members! It means we care about what you think and want to ensure you have a voice. Your vote helps determine our elected board of directors and our future success.

Who can vote?

Individual members 16 years or older are eligible to vote. Voting for this year closed March 26, 2024. Check back in the new year for the next round of director elections information. All voting takes place securely and confidentially through the online platform.

Annual General Meeting (AGM)

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) is where you can expect comprehensive updates from both the Board of Directors Chair and CEO. They’ll share highlights from the previous year, announce the results of the Director Election, and shed light on our ongoing commitment to the financial well-being of our members and communities across Saskatchewan.

The election process

This year, the board sought out candidates who reflected the communities we serve and worked with, including Indigenous members, visible minority members, members of all ages, genders, abilities and challenges, and backgrounds who live across the province of Saskatchewan (i.e. rural, urban, north and south).

We believe that a board that is inclusive and reflects the diversity of our members, in thought and experience, helps ensure strong oversight of Conexus, while also expressing the needs of our members.

While achieving a diverse and inclusive board is our priority, interested members must oversee the complexity of a provincially regulated financial institution. As such, successful applicants will need to demonstrate experience in at least one of the following areas:

  • Behavioral Sciences

  • Board Governance

  • Business Financial Acumen

  • Credit Union & Community Focus

  • Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) 

  • Financial Industry Experience

  • Technology/Digital

  • Talent Management/CEO Compensation

  • Transformational Strategic Leadership

Each year, Directors complete assessments against these competencies to identify any gaps in the Board's skills. When the Nominations Committee publishes the Candidate Guide, it identifies these key competencies to ensure the Board maintains certain skills and experience.

In 2019, Conexus members voted in favour of amendments to the Conexus Bylaws that support the continued evolution of its governance structure to align with how members interact with their credit union. To support the bylaw amendments, the Board of Directors further committed to implementing a process to recommend candidates.

The Nominations Committee interviews all eligible candidates and confirms which candidates have demonstrated experience in these key competencies with the 'Recommended' banner. All candidates on the ballot are qualified to run for the election, however the 'Recommended' candidates are confirmed to have the skills and experience sought by the Board in this year's election.

Regardless of who is recommended, members have the final say through the election process.
