How we're governed

Elections

Electing our Board of Directors is one of the most important parts of democratic co-operative governance. When you vote, you help shape and direct the future of Conexus. This page explains how our board elections work, who can vote and how you can take part in shaping the future of your credit union.

Every year, Conexus members elect directors to represent their interests and help guide the future of the credit union. Before each election, we issue a call for nominations, giving eligible members the opportunity to put their name forward and serve on the Board of Directors.

The Board is made up of members who are passionate about helping Conexus succeed as a financially strong, socially responsible and member-focused credit union. Because they are members too, they understand the needs of our communities and are committed to improving the financial well-being of the people we serve.

When you vote, you help shape the future of Conexus. Members in good standing who are at least 16 years old are entitled to one vote. Elections are typically held each spring alongside our Annual General Meeting (AGM), and members can vote securely through online or digital banking.

As we continue building an inclusive credit union, we encourage nominations from members with diverse backgrounds and experiences, including Indigenous members, visible minorities, members from rural communities and members with disabilities. A Board that reflects our membership helps us make better decisions for everyone.
