Interac e-Transfer® allows you to send or receive money instantly using your email address or mobile phone number. Additionally, you can receive money using your account number. It's a secure easy way to transfer funds without needing to share any personal banking details with the recipient.

Sending & receiving e-Transfers:


To send or receive an Interac e-Transfer®, log onto online or mobile banking, select Transfers > Interac e-Transfer > Profile.


Sending e-Transfers:

Before starting, ensure you have the following:

  • The recipient's name

  • Their email address or mobile phone number

  • A security question and answer (if the recipient isn't set up for Autodeposit)

Step 1: Log into your online or mobile banking account.

Step 2: If you're using online banking, go to Transfers > Interac e-Transfer®, select Send Money. If you're using the mobile banking app, tap the Send Money icon or tap the Transfer menu > Interac e-Transfer®.

Step 3: Choose "Send Money".

Step 4: Enter the recipient's details - email or phone number - and the amount you want to send. Be aware of the limits for Interac e-Transfers® (see below).

Step 5: If needed, create a security question and answer. Avoid using spaces or special symbols. Be sure to let the recipient know the answer to the security question (but don't send it along with the transfer).

Step 6: Review and confirm the details, then send!


Receiving e-Transfers:

When someone sends you an Interac e-Transfer®, you will receive a notification through email or text.

Step 1: Click on the link to access a secure Interac website where you'll be asked to select your financial institution.

Step 2: Sign into online or mobile banking.

Step 3: Enter the answer to the security question, and click Accept.

Step 4: Select the account you would like the money deposited into, and click Continue.

Step 5: Confirm transfer details, and click Confirm.

Note: If you have Autodeposit turned on, the money will be automatically deposited into your account and you will be notified by email.



Setting up Autodeposit

Step 1:
Log in to your online or mobile banking.

Step 2: Navigate to the Interac e-Transfer section and select Autodeposit.

Step 3: Click add Autodeposit.

Step 4: Follow the steps provided.
