To our Conexus members,

I am writing today to advise our membership that Conexus Credit Union’s Chief Executive Officer, Eric Dillon, has announced his departure from his role. The Conexus Board of Directors has appointed Neil Cooper (CFO) as interim CEO, effective February 21.  

Eric’s visionary leadership successfully repositioned the organization for the future, and we are incredibly grateful to him for his tremendous contributions to Conexus over the past 10 years. Eric devoted a decade of his career as our CEO and in that time redefined what it means to be a financial co-operative, pioneering several innovative and incredibly successful projects, propelling Conexus to its position as the award-winning credit union it is today. Some of those accomplishments include:

• Introduced the first “no-fee” account for members in 2013, the first of its kind in Saskatchewan for a full-service financial institution.

• Launched the first credit union backed business incubator, Cultivator, powered by Conexus, which just celebrated its third birthday, and over 80 businesses incubated to-date.

• Built the first Social Impact Bond in Canada, winning a Governor General’s Award for Innovation in Social Impact Financing.

• Launched the first venture capital fund established by a credit union in Canada.

• Led the credit union to international recognition as #1 in Banking Service for two back-to-back years, through a global pandemic.

• Donated branch buildings to community organizations to repurpose public spaces for community use.

• Successfully advocated for financial literacy education to be permanently added to curriculums in Saskatchewan schools in 2019.

• Introduced a new way to understand members' financial health, aligning our performance and compensation to improved financial wellness of our members.

The entire Team at Conexus is grateful to Eric for his bold leadership and his years of dedication to our organization, to you, our members, and to our communities; and we wish him the absolute best as he embarks on a new journey.

Members can have confidence that the credit union is in a strong position to continue to deliver on its purpose and provide excellent service as the Board of Directors engage in a diligent search process to ensure a smooth transition of leadership. As a leading credit union in Canada, we are financially strong, have a sound strategy in place, and an incredible team of over 800 talented employees across the province. We are in a prime position to attract excellent talent, and while this process is underway, we have every confidence in Neil’s ability to perform the role of interim CEO.
