Conexus Credit Union announces Celina Philpot as its new CEO
(Tuesday, September 20, 2022 – Regina, Saskatchewan) – Today, Conexus Credit Union’ (Conexus) Board of Directors announced Celina Philpot as Conexus’ newest and first female Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
Philpot brings over 25 years of experience in the credit union system, with her most recent role as the former Chief Retail and Brand Officer at SCU (Steinbach Credit Union) in Manitoba, where she was responsible for delivering business results and managing organizational risk through the development of strategies for retail sales, wealth management, member services, marketing, and corporate programs. Her previous roles at SCU included Vice President, Corporate Development; Executive Vice President, Operations; and Executive Vice President, Member Engagement and Brand. Philpot holds a Master of Business Administration (Royal Roads University), a Master of Project Management (University of Winnipeg) and is a certified Project Management Professional (Project Management International).
“As part of our search to find a new CEO, we created a new sub-committee on our Board, the CEO Search Committee. A huge thank you to our board members on this committee as well as to Leaders International Executive Search, who helped lead and conduct a robust search to attract incredible talent,” said Mark Borgares, Conexus Credit Union Board Chair. “Celina’s extensive experience in the credit union system, vision for success, community focus, action orientation, commitment to credit union values, and her passion for leadership and innovation align with Conexus' priorities and strategy and will be key to leading Conexus into the future and helping us improve the financial well-being of our members and community.” “As a first-generation Canadian, I understand the importance of commitment, hard work, drive, and community. I integrate these qualities into my work and leadership style by challenging and empowering leaders at all levels to think differently, approach challenges creatively, and inspire collective action that achieves positive results for members, the organization, and the community at large”, said Philpot. “I am so grateful and humbled by the opportunity to work with Conexus Credit Union which has a solid reputation throughout Canada for being progressive, innovative and member-centric. Conexus has demonstrated its ability to create value and improve the financial well-being of its members and community and I look forward to working with the Board of Directors, Executive Management Team and employees to serve our members and live out our purpose.”
Philpot will begin her new position on September 26, 2022, in which interim CEO, Neil Cooper will return to his previous role as Chief Financial Officer. “I’d also like to take a moment to thank Neil Cooper, who stepped up into the role of interim CEO, and helped lead the operations of Conexus forward while we conducted our CEO search,” said Borgares. “Also, a thank you to our Executive Team for working together to keep our teams focused on our priorities, and also supporting our progress as a credit union.”
The entire team at Conexus are excited to welcome Celina to the Conexus family, and we are proud to introduce the first female CEO in Conexus' history!
