Heartland Hospice Announces Capital Campaign: Conexus Credit Union the First Major Sponsor
HEARTLAND HOSPICE’S Evening Under the Stars Gala Fundraiser took place on May 26th. During that magical evening, celebrating the life of Saskatchewan’s shining star, Ashley Luther, aka Elly Mayday, Heartland Hospice made an exciting announcement: they are officially launching a capital campaign to raise one million dollars for expanded hospice care in Moose Jaw.
“Community is much more than belonging to something; it’s about doing something together that makes belonging matter.” Angela Sereda, chair of Heartland Hospice stated. “Tonight, we are very honoured and extremely grateful to have the Conexus Credit Union ‘partnering for change’ with Heartland Hospice and making a remarkable donation of $20,000 towards helping us achieve our vision and enhancing hospice care within our community of Moose Jaw.
Conexus Credit Union empowers people and the communities they serve. Being a part of the community is fundamental to who they are and is a part of their fabric and their cooperative principles. Conexus partners with non-profit and charitable organizations to enhance the quality of life for everyone in their communities and make our province a better place. In the past 5-years alone, they have re-invested over $9.5 million dollars back into Saskatchewan communities.
“We’re so proud to be one of the first corporate sponsors for the Moose Jaw Heartland Hospice expansion project. This family-centered project offers a tangible solution to the stressors imposed on residents in and around Moose Jaw with terminally ill relatives,” said Todd Andries, Regional Vice President, Agriculture, Conexus Credit Union. “We are committed to Heartland Hospice's goal of creating an expanded hospice facility in Moose Jaw and helping alleviate some of the financial pressures faced by families so they can focus on what matters most.”
Heartland Hospice works collaboratively with both the Saskatchewan Health Authority and the Ministry of Health on initiatives to support the delivery of patient and family-centered care within palliative hospice care. Representatives of both attended the gala to provide their support for the launch of the capital campaign and speak to the importance of this expansion for our community. The Honourable Everett Hindly, Minister of Mental Health and Addictions, Seniors, and Rural and Remote Health, MLA for Swift Current spoke as well as Karen Abrey who is the Director of Continuing Care for SW 2 and 3 for the Saskatchewan Health Authority.
Heartland Hospice is extremely grateful for all the individuals and businesses within our community of Moose Jaw who have supported our efforts to date. We would also like to thank Yvette Moore for partnering with us in our capital campaign. Yvette will be creating an original limited-edition lily print for specific donor levels. A Iily is used as Heartland Hospice’s logo as it was the favourite flower of our founder Arlene Kolosky.
